2014 TKGA Conference Recap!
This years TKGA Conference, held in Manchester, NH at the Radisson Hotel featured record breaking attendance with over 500 knitters from around the world. The expo center, which featured over 35 exhibitors, was the place to be on Thursday night for the Shopping Preview. Sponsored by Annie’s, pre-registered attendees were able to have first-look at exhibitor items, get their hands on some new yarn and stock up on tools to help complete their projects; nothing like enjoying a beverage or two to really help fill their shopping bags provided by Lion Brand Yarns.
Friday, a new day for education, also meant graduation for three knitters who received their Master Knitter Pins at the TKGA Summer Soiree that evening sponsored by Annie’s. Pamela Haswell, Heather Storta, and Cheryl Scallon were presented their pins by the Master Committee Members who were present. All who attended were able to bask in the accomplishments of these ladies and revel in their wonderful Level 3 sweater designs. To go with the theme of accomplishment, Kraemer Yarns so generously provided their Olympic sweater to be on display throughout the evening. After the Pinning Ceremony, the podiums were welcomed to Kara Gott Warner, Executive Editor of Creative Knitting Magazine along with Charles Gandy, Master Hand Knitting Committee member, to emcee the nights fashion show.
“Shock and awe” overcame the attendees present for the Saturday night, first annual, TKGA Yarn Tasting. Welcomed at the door with a takeout box filled with complimentary needles provided by Chao Goo and a menu, the attendees were chomping at the bit to get through the doors to see what was in store for them. Little did they know, over 30 balls of yarn provided by 22 sponsors is what they would be taking home with them. On top of that, each person left with a goody bag full of even more yarn and goodies provided by the night’s generous sponsors. StevenBe and Stephen West were magnificent toastmasters and provided the evening with a wonderful trunk show of their inspirational designs!
Needless to say, we were all very sad to see the show come to an end on Sunday. We will be looking forward to seeing everyone in 2015 for the 30th Anniversary Conference of TKGA!
